The Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania established and annual award program to gain public recognition for local businesses that maintain a solid commitment to conducting their business practices in an ethical fashion. Up to four businesses that display an outstanding commitment to marketplace ethics will be awarded the BBB Torch Award for marketplace Ethics each year.
Companies are evaluated against criteria that includes commitment to and demonstration of ethical practices in the marketplace; high standards of behavior toward customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and the communities in which they do business; long-term value of ethics policies to shareholders, customers and employees; and training and communications programs to assist employees in carrying out established ethics policies.
At the time the application is submitted, the company must meet and have no significant outstanding concerns that will prevent the company from meeting all BBB Accreditation Standards.
Candidates for the BBB Torch Award are evaluated by an independent panel of judges selected from the business and academic community.
This year the BBB Board of Directors, the independent judges, the Bureau staff and over 2,800 members recognized Metropolitan Window Company as the 2007 Runner-Up for the BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.
Warren King, President of the BBB stated, "What stands out throughout Metropolitan Window Company's application is their dedication to meeting customer's expectations by doing what is right by the customer."
